The Full Moon in Cancer

On January 13, the Full Moon in Cancer rises, casting its luminous glow on our inner world. As the ruler of the Moon, Cancer deepens this phase's emotional resonance, offering a moment ripe for introspection and growth.

Full Moon = Full...Sun?

There are a few interesting dynamics to consider here. As the Moon reaches its climax in Cancer, the Sun (the source of the moon's glow) is taking its final steps through Capricorn. That is to say, a deeply intuitive and emotionally perceptive Cancerian Moon reflects the full illumination of a Sun that’s shining through the lens of grounded, ambitious, and emotionally armored Capricorn. This contrast presents us with a challenge: How do you balance your ambitions with emotional awareness, comfort, connection, and self-care? This Full Moon offers an opportunity to integrate both, and reminds us that emotional stability can serve as the foundation for sustainable success.

Two's a Party....

Ok, who invited Mars? Not only is Mars crashing the Full Moon party, it’s careening through Cancer in retrograde.  See post on Mars Retrograde in Cancer for more on that. So what does this mean? Shortly after the full moon perfects, it will cross paths with Mars, who is already on an emotional journey; Hello emotional catharsis! It's likely that we may be struck with heavy emotions (resentment, grief, insecurity, all the fun ones), and while these likely aren't new feels, this is a time where they do need our attention to understand deeper discomforting patterns that we may not be fully aware of. If we can rise above impulsive reactions and channel that energy into creative and emotionally cathartic experiences (create something!), we may discover newfound strength and determination to break through what we are feeling.

Make Something

When emotions run high, as they often do under a Full Moon, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or untethered, especially with Mars chiming in. This is your moment to sit with things that may at first seem unpleasant; to lean into the chaos with curiosity rather than resistance. Reflect on what these emotions are asking of you and what truths they reveal. Journal it out. Take some time and create something straight from the heart, allowing the process to reveal what's been sitting below the surface. Ditch perfectionism and embrace your beautifully messy brilliance—no one’s truth hits harder than your own. If it happens to come with tears, it might be time to break out the water color paints and mix those tears with some pigments to find a new way to express your sorrows. This isn’t about fixing or fighting—it’s about listening. In quietness, you might just uncover the clarity and resilience you’ve been searching for.
