Healed & Etched Double Terminated Etched Quartz "Floater" | 131gr, Arkansas

Sometimes conditions allow for a crystal to form completely unattached to a host rock or other matrix - this can happen in a solution, or in another mineral that eventually dissolves away. The end result in either case is the same: a perfect crystal with no obvious growth points AKA a "bottom." This palm-sized piece of quartz from Arkansas is a great example of this phenomenon, with a glassy luster, an etched surface, and a cute little area of semi-tabular growth at one end. Love!
